Logo, promotional material, and large-format signage created for an art show in an abandoned neoclassical building.

Challenge: Create a name and an aesthetic for a contemporary art show (produced by IDADA during Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis) that straddles disparate art and sports worlds, as well as visually activate a neglected, empty neoclassical building in downtown Indy.

Annual report for the Boy Scouts of America, Crossroads of America Council

Challenge: On a small budget, create a printed annual report that celebrated the Council and honored the 100th anniversary of the Eagle Scout Award, Scouting's highest honor.

Logo and icon system for Portland Bureau of Transportation's "Fixing Our Streets" initiative.

Challenge: Create an identity to designate projects funded by a new 10¢ gas tax. Because the project was publicly funded, PBOT requested a logo that was functional and attractive, but not too flashy or expensive-looking.

Challenge: Create a minimal, simple website that will allow product imagery and lookbooks to shine.

Challenge: Create bold, contemporary new identity for upstart urban issues group.

Digital album artwork for Weapons, a remix EP by Son Lux on Anticon Records. Created in collaboration with fine artist Kipp Normand. (Release: 16 February 2010.)

Additional Information was a public design project initiated by Matt during his time as a resident artist at the Harrison Center for the Arts. 

The project was created to help the public better understand the architecture and expansions (aka additions) of the art center. In the mid-2000s, a local philanthropist created Harrison Center for the Arts out of an abandoned church complex. The church consisted of three primary connected buildings that were built and connected between 1902 and 1961. One 48" x 52" exterior placard was mounted to the facade of each of the three buildings, communicating its architectural style, the year it was built, and the architecture firm that designed it. The placards were made out of MDO, cut on a CNC router, and hand-painted.

This logo was created for Test Pressings For Charity, a collaborative project that uses test pressings created by record labels to support a music-based charity. Contributing organizations include: Ghostly International, K Records, New Amsterdam Records, Western Vinyl, Sacks & Co, Asthmatic Kitty Records, and Secretly Canadian Distribution.

This website was designed for Asthmatic Kitty Records, independent record label home of Sufjan Stevens, My Brightest Diamond, and Lily & Madeleine. AK wanted a clean, well-organized site that balanced their needs for a publishing platform and a structured, easy-to-understand storefront to let the artwork and sounds of their roster shine.

Naplab, a collective of urban enthusiasts in Indianapolis, was co-founded by Matt in 2008. Naplab designed and produced the first Neighborhoods of Indianapolis Map. This was an unprecedented design artifact and resource for Indy, aggregating 400 sq miles of disparate neighborhood information onto a huge, easy-to-read 46" x 48" poster. The map was the culmination of two years of research initiated by Aaron Renn, Josh Anderson, and Matt.

Challenge: Use proprietary touchscreen technology to illustrate and bring to life the unique fabrication and assembly process for investors and clients at at first-of-its-kind Rolls-Royce "Focused Factory" for jet engines.

Role: Lead Designer (under guidance of CD: responsible for UI, visual theme and layout, directing programmer for animations and transitions, working with modeler on interactive 360° renderings)

4'x10' cabinet in entryway of Engineering School building on University of Portland campus.

Challenge: On very small budget, design and activate an unused, neglected cabinet in primary entrance for school building.
